Try lead paint removal to lessen the lead poison risks in your home
Lead contaminated dust
(LCD) is the primary cause of lead poison problems in children, which is a leading environmental health risk. According to HUD and EPA, the best way to make a home lead-safe is to perform
lead based paint abatement on a regular basis with a lead-specific detergent.
Why
Use Lead-Specific Detergents
for Lead Paint Removal?
Lead poison compounds in lead-contaminated dust
(LCD) are found in a wide range of physical and chemical forms. Some household
LCD contains lead compounds from lead paint hazards. Household LCD also can come
from soil residues that include lead compounds that were used in leaded
gasoline. Other lead compounds in household LCD can come from a variety of
industrial, hobby, or work related activities. Different types and combinations
of detergent ingredients are best for lead removal of different classes of lead
compounds. Lead-specific detergents are designed to remove the wide range of
lead compounds found in lead-contaminated dusts.
Household and general-purpose cleaners are designed to give a home a clean
appearance, and in some cases give some germicidal or other sanitary benefits.
While certain household or general-purpose cleaners may sometimes have some
effectiveness against certain types of lead paint hazards, these kinds of
cleaners are not designed to remove the broad range of chemical classes of lead
compounds found in lead-contaminated dusts. With lead-specific detergents, it is
less necessary to know the details of the lead compounds that are causing the
hazard -- making lead paint removal simple.
Lead-specific detergent formulations are adjusted to be able to dissolve lead
compounds that can be easily dissolved, as well as to chemically react with
certain insoluble lead compounds to change them into a more easily cleaned form,
and also to disperse other non-reactive or insoluble particulate lead to keep
lead poison risk to a minimum. This takes the guesswork out of lead paint
removal and leaves only one type of cleaner to use for each type of
lead-contaminated dust. This can be of particular importance when cleaning very
high levels of lead dust. For example, even if you suspect your hazardous lead
dust comes from old lead-based paint, you would not know which of the many types
of lead compounds are used in that paint. A properly formulated lead-specific
detergent, such as Ledizolv® -- The Lead-Specific Detergent(TM) -- is effective
against the wide range of lead compounds found in household LCD and is designed
for lead removal down to trace levels.
LSZ, Inc., devoted 2 ˝ years and substantial resources in the development of a
detergent for
lead paint removal. The focus of our research and development was to invent a lead-specific cleaner
for lead abatement that would achieve maximum lead-contaminated dust (LCD) removal, while at the same time having excellent functional, environmental and health safety characteristics.
Ledizolv® is THE lead paint removal detergent scientifically formulated for use in the clean-up and control of
LCD hazards. It's a perfect solution for people living or working in lead poison environments; contractors working on renovation, maintenance, or
lead based paint abatement; and government and health agencies working to solve lead
problems.
The lead-specific nature of Ledizolv® has been proven in thousands of clearance tests and extensive field studies. These tests have shown Ledizolv® to be a superior and more appropriate
LCD remover than tri-sodium-phosphate (TSP) and other phosphate-containing and/or multi-purpose cleaners.
Unlike Ledizolv®, TSP does not dissolve any lead at all. Instead, TSP can form an insoluble precipitate, lead phosphate, which according to the Merck Index 11th edition, "may reasonably be anticipated to be a carcinogen." Using TSP
as a lead paint remover can also necessitate multiple cleanings in order to achieve HUD clearance criteria. Additionally, because of environmental and worker safety concerns, virtually all states have restricted and/or banned the use of phosphate-containing cleaners.
Ledizolv®, on the other hand, is lead-dissolving, successfully removes LCD and passes virtually all clearance tests. Also, because it is phosphate-free and biodegradable, Ledizolv® does not create any environmental or worker hazards. Its mild pH (near neutral) means Ledizolv® will not damage painted surfaces and floors like phosphate-containing and/or multi-purpose cleaners can.
Because Ledizolv® is an established lead-specific cleaner, many contractors and lead
poison prevention professionals worldwide are using Ledizolv®
exclusively as their lead poison prevention programs. Skeptical lead poison prevention professionals have scrutinized our product claims and are pleased with their findings and, most importantly, are pleased with Ledizolv®'s effectiveness in removing LCD. There is no other product on the market that is as safe and effective in removing LCD.
